With his run to the men's singles semifinals at the Paris Olympics, Lakshya Sen has cemented his legacy in Indian badminton history. Sen became the first male Indian shuttler to advance to this stage of the Olympic Games with a hard-fought victory over Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien Chen.

The 22-year-old performed his quarterfinal match with amazing tenacity. Sen showed his resiliency by coming back from a 19-21 loss to win the next two games decisively, 21-15 and 21-12, to guarantee his place in the semifinals.

Looking ahead, on August 4, Sen will square off against Denmark's Viktor Axelsen, the current Olympic champion, which promises to be a tough match. The Danish player has dominated the competition, displaying his skill with decisive wins.

Axelsen began the tournament with a resounding 21-8, 21-6 victory over Prince Dahal of Nepal. He then proceeded to dominate, defeating Israel's Misha Zilberman 21-9, 21-11 and defeating Nhat Nguyen of Ireland 21-13, 21-10 in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, he easily defeated Singapore's Loh Kean Yew, winning 21-9, 21-17.

Lakshya's road to the semifinals has been characterised by effort and dedication, in contrast to Axelsen's easy path. His incredible comeback against Chou Tien Chen demonstrated his talent and capacity to function under duress.

Axelsen has won seven of their eight meetings against the other, thus far, and has the advantage going into their semifinal matchup.

Sen only triumphed over the Danish shuttler once, on March 12, 2022, at the German Open.

Manu Bhaker, the shooting star from India, failed to secure the third medal at the Olympics in Paris. The 22-year-old finished fourth in the women's 25-meter pistol final, missing out on the bronze.

Manu finished in the top 5 of an extremely contested final, but in the bronze medal shoot-off, Veronika Major of Hungary won.
