A young man who criticized the Army on social media was sentenced to 6 years in prison

 


A person who ran a social media campaign against the army was punished under the PECA Act.

Sikandar Zaman, a citizen of Faisalabad, posted misleading posts after the army helicopter crashed in Lasbela. After making the misleading posts, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took action against the accused under Sections 20 and 24C of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act .

The court sentenced the accused to a total of 6 years in prison and Sentenced to a fine of 260,000 rupees. Under Section 20 of the PECA, the court sentenced Sikandar to one year in prison and a fine of one lakh rupees. In default of payment of the fine, he will have to spend another three months in jail. 

        Apart from this, under Section 24C of the Penal Code, Sikandar will be jailed for one year and one year. A fine of Rs. 1 lakh In case of non-payment of fine, additional imprisonment of 3 months will be served. Moreover, under Section 500 of the Pakistan Penal Code, Sikandar has been sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of 10,000. In case of non-payment of the fine, another 15 days of imprisonment will be served. 

       Along with this, the court has sentenced Sikandar to three years imprisonment and a fine of 50 thousand rupees under section 505 of Pakistan Penal Code. Failure to pay the fine will result in another 45 days of imprisonment. 

According to the court verdict, all the sentences (one year, one year, one year and three years) will start concurrently, meaning Sikandar will have to spend three years in jail.
